How to Create an Automated Social Post Approval Workflow

Setting up a social media post approval workflow allows posts to be automatically routed for approval before being published. This is useful when a team member's posts need approval from management, legal, or any other designated approver. Once submitted, the assigned approver receives a notification and post summary and can approve the post directly from their email.

Steps to Set Up a Social Post Approval Workflow

  1. Navigate to the top-right menu and click Workspace Users.

  2. Find the user whose posts should be reviewed before publishing.

  3. Click the Actions dropdown next to their name.

  4. Select Edit to open their user settings.

  5. Scroll down to the Permissions section.

  6. Find the "Publish" option, which controls post approval.

  7. Choose the appropriate approval setting:

    • Do not hold social posts for approval (Default – no approval required).
    • Hold social posts for approval (Requires approval before publishing).
  8. Select the approver from the dropdown list:

  9. Enable Auto-Approval (Optional):

    • Check "Auto approve after X minutes".
    • Set a timeframe (e.g., 60 minutes, 2 hours) after which the system will automatically approve the post if no action is taken.
  10. Click Save to apply the approval workflow.


Example Use Case

Consider a scenario where a junior employee submits a post, and it must be approved by a manager (Big Boss) before going live. By setting up this workflow:

  • The post is automatically routed to the designated approver.
  • The approver receives a notification and can approve via email.
  • If the approver is unavailable, the system can auto-approve after a set time (e.g., 2 hours).

This feature ensures that all posts meet company guidelines while allowing flexibility in the approval process.
